About
Drive for a Cause (DC) was founded in July of 2007 by Marcus Berry and Jeff Bellitti. DC is a 100% volunteer based fundraising organization whose mission is to increase awareness, engage, and provoke action amongst its members to fulfill an inherent responsibility toward social, medical, and educational needs of their communities. The committee members donate their time and energy and no committee member receives any financial benefit.
In September of 2007, Drive for a Cause hosted its first annual charity golf tournament at Oak Creek Golf Club as a memorial to the late Dr. Charles "Chuck" Bellitti, a much loved orthopedic surgeon, friend, and family member. The event was attended by 146 golfers and 41 of their supporters. Through golf entry fees, corporate and individual sponsorship, reception attendance, and the silent auction, The tournament was able to raise over $87,000 while contributing nearly $40,000 to both the Hoag Hospital Cancer Center and Fertile Hope, the 2007 beneficiaries.
